Since I was given my first video-camera at the age of 16 I never stopped making “independent” films: with friends, family members and later on with students during my University years. I’ve always defended the philosophy of creativity without any boundaries, thus the name “chapuzas” means “shoddy” in English; the spirit of learning the craft by using it.
I’ve always loved the arts from a very young age, starting from painting (especially drawing comics) and even composing music with a piano keyboard. Since I never had the privilege to be taught any of these crafts (including filmmaking) I always took the initiative to do it “by heart”, having had the experience of learning everything by “imitation”, one of the notions Aristotle defended as the essence of any human creation (see short Mimesis).
Through all the videos I’ve created, worked or collaborated with (worth to point out that even if I call myself filmmaker I have mostly worked with video), I’ve been constantly learning a craft that is in constant mutation, having experienced the raise of internet-based videomaking with the later production of ‘Superhéroe Semanal’, a Web-series (or Webisodes) that was commissioned by AOL for the Spanish blog Cinematical.es (having produced, scripted, directed and edited this piece)
I have been involved in most of the stages of a production; pre-production (scripting, production planning, storyboarding), production (producing, directing) and post-production (editing)
